well, i bought this wig thinking that it would be perfect for my oval face. i am recovering from traction alopecia. When the wig arrived, i have to say, It's light, airy, and kind of a bouffant-do. If you are a caucasion woman, and more matured, and from the midwest - this wig is for you.
but i am an african american woman. and very young looking in the face. Teresa Graves might have pulled this off during her "Get Christy Love" series, in the 70's, but it doesn't fly in this decade. I decided to wear this wig for an important interview in Idaho.. It worked well there, but i'm sure the personnel don't care what your hair looks like anyway.
As i went through the airport, i not only got stopped several times by security and searched going TO idaho, but coming BACK as well - they kept eyeing my head, just itching to pull the damn thing off because it was so obvious that it wasn't all that natural looking. i must have looked like Bridget Fonda in that fake, wing-like wig, in the Point of No Return, ready to do a CIA/terrorist hit.
When i made it home, i told my SO that i wore that wig to my interview in Idaho.. He was shocked to hear i wore that thing out of the house, let alone to Idaho. And laughed so hard - i knew i wouldn't get the job.. but thanks to my charisma, experience, and confidence - i am employed..
This wig is not for younger African American women who want to look well-polished, refined and sophisticated. If you want to come across as older, maternal, old-fashioned, and a throw-back from the 70's or 80's, this is your wig.
